Firm Profile
Ross, Pope & Company was founded in 1925 by George N.
Ross. George, who received his accounting designation in Scotland
in 1915, immigrated to Canada in 1920 and after practicing
his profession in Toronto and western Canada, made his way
to Timmins where he founded the George N. Ross, Chartered
Accountant office.
Reginald H. Pope joined the firm in 1937, received his CA
designation in 1948 and became a partner in 1951. The firm
was then renamed Ross, Pope & Company Chartered Accountants,
the name it maintains to this day.
We have grown in pace with the economic development of Northeastern
Ontario as a result of the steadily increasing demand for
professional accounting and related services. In 1983, we
opened an office in Kirkland Lake. As a firm owned by Northerners,
and serving the North, we have continued to serve the needs
of this area. We pride ourselves in providing our clients
with personalized services at reasonable costs. We have remained
independent by choice because it frees us from any administrative
constraints inherent in large national accounting firms, and
permits us the flexibility to provide that personal service.
We also established Ross Pope Inc. in 1994, a separate corporation,
which handles the non-regulated aspects such as computer consulting,
training, Quickbooks®, Sage Accpac, Simply Accounting
by Sage sales, bookkeeping and property management. We also
have an authorized Doc.It® DM trainer and consultant.
Although Ross, Pope & Company is an independent firm,
it is the largest firm in the area. The company has grown
to its present complement of 35 professionals in Timmins and
14 in Kirkland Lake.
The firm's slogan is "Helping you achieve your
goals in your business,
is our goal in
our business".
We help businesses succeed, and in doing so, our business
grows.
